The Great and Distinguished Words of God is the revelation of a whole new subject. A three volume collection that was the result of an all out investigation to find and publish the answer to the question “What is modern man to recognizes as and respond to as “The Word of God?” I welcome both the scholar and layfolks alike to critically examine this collection, on the condition that you are a voracious reader or are serious, snoopy and discerning about such crucial things.
Volume One, The Histories, presents the major portion of twenty-seven different historical accounts, some biblical and some not, which includes material ascribed to be God’s very words and paraphrases of them. These documents are arranged and presented in such a way that even knowledgeable old testament readers might gain a fuller understanding of the history of the Hebrewish people recorded therein, due to the chronological ordering, the editing style and the color printing technique of this presentation. Adding further to the enhanced picture which one will receive as he reads the following, is a wealth of other and/or more detailed renderings offered by the non-biblical sources. The net result is an expanded composite of a familiar story which places the reader in a position of one who might have lived before any such assessments had been made for him by religious establishments. This position might be something akin to that of Flavius Josephus, an important contributor to this book who lived during the first century AD and claims to have had access to “all” of the sacred Hebrew writings that had been preserved in the temple until his time. While we cannot quite make such claims about the comprehensive nature of these sources and cannot even know exactly what his collection may have included. It seems clear that there was considerably more documentation than has been passed down to us in the old testament. Hopefully todays reader, like with the adjoining historical account of Josephus, can benefit from all of the information available to him.
The color coded text is arranged in a manner which helps the reader to better distinguish who is speaking. When God is speaking the text is red. When an angel is quoted the print is blue. Quotations by Satan/Iblis are green and all other speakers words are in black print.
